The Cracked Spine : A Scottish Bookshop Mystery
Delaney Nichols is on the literary adventure of a lifetime when she leaves the States for Edinburgh, Scotland, to take a job at The Cracked Spine. Never did Delaney think that her dream job would turn into a living nightmare. The characters are engaging especially Delaney, Edwin, and Tom and the mystery plots are engaging. I learned a great deal also - about old manuscripts, auctions for old manuscripts, restoring old manuscripts, and so forth. The bookshop and city are both described so well that I can clearly picture them in my mind. I highly recommend The Cracked Spine by Paige Shelton to all fans of cozy mysteries, especially those who are also fans of cozies set in the UK.
I reached up for a bar to grab, but there wasn't one there. It was on the side panel instead, next to the door that opened in what seemed like the wrong direction. I settled myself on the seat and tried to put my feet in better spots so as to save my body from being propelled out of the cab. There were no seat belts in the backseat to hold me in place. My safety would depend upon luck and my personal sense of balance.
This time around I thought I would tell you well in advance the book that I will write about next month probably late in May. This way, if you all want to read the book too, you can if you want. Then, those of us who have read the book can talk about it in the comments after the post.

She doesn't know much about what she's gotten herself into other than that the work sounds exciting and that her new boss, Edwin MacAlister, has given her the opportunity of a lifetime. When she arrives, she meets her new Scottish family; also working at The Cracked Spine are Rosie, perpetually wrapped in scarves, who always has tiny dog Hector in tow; Hamlet, a year-old thespian with a colored past and a bright future; and Edwin, who is just as enigmatic and mysterious as Delaney expected. But before she can settle in to her new life, a precious artifact - a previously undiscovered first folio of Shakespeare's plays - goes missing, and Edwin's sister is murdered, seemingly in connection to the missing folio. Delaney decides to do some sleuthing of her own to find out just what the real story is behind the priceless folio and how it's connected to the tragic death - all without getting harmed herself.
The lowest-priced brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging where packaging is applicable. Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See details for additional description. Interesting concept of an American going to work in a Scottish Bookstore. Lota of characters and plots.
