While participants in LEI may engage in activities and events around the Law School that do not conflict with LEI classes, they are not permitted to audit classes at the Law School or any other school at the University. Law students and graduates from all countries are welcome to register for this program. In extraordinary circumstances, we may accept students and graduates of non-law programs with a demonstrated interest or background in law for the non-credit program.

It is one of the many forms of English that is used in law. In other words, it is a technical language specifically originated as a language for legal professionals such as judges, lawyers, legal assistants and attorneys. Legal English is not a native language for these professionals. Therefore, they are required to learn this language from a technical context in order to perform well in the field of law. Even when we talk about English being spoken in two different regions, we can analyze that there is a lot of difference between the two.
Learning legal English is thus a process that involves elements of both legal and language expertise. Collaboration between legal and applied linguistic scholars can contribute to this learning process.

Legal profession is a profession , and legal professionals study, develop and apply law. Usually, there is a requirement for someone choosing a career in law to first obtain a law degree or some other form of legal education. While in civil law countries there are usually distinct clearly defined career paths in law, such as judge, in common law jurisdictions there tends to be one legal profession, and it is not uncommon, for instance, that a requirement for a judge is several years of practising law privately. Historically, this has been the first legal specialization. In civil law countries, this is often a lifelong career.
Many firms and their clients are moving toward paperless offices or at least, toward less paper, which is a feat in and of itself for most businesses and legal organizations. Meanwhile, clients are accessing law firm publications on a variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, e-readers, and large multiple-monitor desktop environments. Needless to say, PDF has played a big role in this shift. Communications between clients, lawyers, and the courts, that once took weeks, now happen in minutes. Attorney questions are answered on the web, often published via PDF software originating within the firm.
