Have you ever purchased an iBook and then wished that you had an audiobook version of it? Macworld UK's Mark Hattersley wrote a wonderful post today on how to use Siri Dictation to speak either a portion or all of the text from an iBook. Tap Speak Selection, slow down the speaking rate a bit to make Siri's reading somewhat more natural sounding, and then turn on Highlight Words so that you can see where Siri is reading in the iBook. Now head over to the iBooks app and open the book you want to hear. Tap the aA icon at the top right of the iBook display, and tap on Themes.

Audiobooks are fun to listen to during a commute, or a jog, or any time your hands are busy, but they often cost a lot and you can't always find an audiobook edition for your current book. Fortunately, there's a way to get your iPad or iPhone to read any ebook to you in just a few steps. Toggle "Speak Screen" on. While in the Speech menu, select the Voices option. Find and select your language in the Voices menu, and then pick the voice you want to hear. There are a couple dozen voices to choose from in English alone, and many more for other languages. There's going to come a point where you will wonder, "Wait, did they really say that?

Audiobooks are fun to listen to during a commute, or anytime your eyes and hands are busy, but they come at a premium price with limited selection. Not to worry: in three simple steps, you can have your iPhone or iPad read any ebook to you without the need for additional apps. Here, toggle on Speak Screen. Now, by simply swiping down with two fingers from the top of the screen, you can have Siri read any text that's currently displayed, no matter what app you're in. For security purposes, be sure to turn Auto-Lock back on when you take a break from your book. Making this change will keep your screen from shutting off, so your story won't be interrupted.

So far, I have been unsuccessful in persuading my wife to do the same for me, but I think I may have found an alternative solution.
