Orwell wrote the book between November and February , when the UK was in its wartime alliance with the Soviet Union against Nazi Germany and the British people and intelligentsia held Stalin in high esteem, a phenomenon Orwell hated. It became a great commercial success when it did appear partly because international relations were transformed as the wartime alliance gave way to the Cold War.

The animals in the Manor Farm are taught by old boar that humans are parasites and the revolutionary song Beasts of England. The death of old boar opens the was for Snowball and Napoleon, two young pigs. Both pigs trains the animals and ends up ousting the farmer and renames the farm to Animal farm. The animals also adopts the Seven Commandments called Animalism and the core of it is "All animals are equal".
Animal Farm is a classic. It is hard to believe that when the book was written, George could not find a publisher. Now his book is on most High schools reading lists.
