DIY Shelves for Nurseries and Kids' RoomsSomehow it makes you feel good. And for every occasion, holiday or just because, they keep coming. Materials required. I envision mine running all the way up and across a good portion of the wall or between two walls on a 90 degree angle. And thank you Annie! With a passion for decorating and design, it was Melisa's experience as a first time mom, that inspired her to start Project Nursery.

DIY Shelves for Nurseries and Kids' Rooms
Perfect for storing books on an empty wall in a kids room or play room. I also love the fact that the kids can see the books easily, which means they want to read more! My older daughter is already handing me books more often because she sees them on the wall and not tucked away on a traditional bookshelf. Miter saw or circular saw optional 4. Kreg Jig optional 5. Drill 6.

Although these look like they are the cutest little bookshelves ever, they are actually designed to be kitchen spice racks from IKEA. In true IKEA fashion everything you need to build these shelves 4 screws and an allen wrench comes inside of the package. So the only other supplies you need on hand is the paint or stain you wish to use in order to personalize them for your space. You can always paint or stain the pieces before building them too. These shelves already have hanging hardware attached on the backside of them, so all you need is a couple of anchors and screws and you should be all set. The process was super simple for ours, really the hardest part was figuring out how far we wanted the bookshelves to be apart from one another.
Shelves are an essential decorating tool. That said, attractive shelving can be expensive and hard to find. Need a little inspiration? These DIY shelves are nothing short of genius. Best of all, many of them can be made from things you already have lying around the house!
We made a set of nursery bookshelves to store, organize and display baby books. Well, it looks like we are actually going to finish this nursery before baby makes his arrival! It was a given we would incorporate bookshelves into the nursery. The nursery has two small walls that are at an angle so we thought that making bookshelves that ran vertically up the wall would be a good use of space. A popular trend right now is using the IKEA spice racks for baby books so we took that idea and built our own larger, beefier version so we could fit more books on them and fill up the wall. To see how we built our nursery bookshelves, check out the video or follow along with the steps below. Shop the products we used for this project in one place.
