Rereading this book as an adult left me just as heartbroken as when I was a kid. Why do you do this to me, Sharon Creech? Sweet Sal, her remarkable story, and the adventure she shares with her wild grandparents have once again wiggled their way into my heart. And I'm perfectly OK with that.
