There are plenty of books about kettlebell training but I felt there was something missing, a guide that really starts at the beginning. I wrote this guide for both men and women who have non, little or very limited knowledge of kettlebells. I want to walk you through the complete guide so that you have the confidence to start kettlebell training either by yourself or with a qualified instructor. This guide is written to be read from start to finish. Each section builds on the one before it.

The man is an accomplished martial artist, athlete, and trainer with a knack for breaking down the technical aspects of an exercise into easily understandable chunks. As an aspiring kettlebell practitioner hungry for information, I was excited to get my hands on a copy of his book Kettlebell Training. Given Mr. Does it live up to those expectations? For example — the dual hand swing, arguably the most basic of kettlebell exercises, is not included. Other more esoteric exercises — such as a kettlebell jump squat — are included. Cotter clearly lives and breathes kettlebells and his passion for this tool and instruction definitely comes across in the writing.

Seven years ago, when I picked up my first kettlebell, it was rare to find anyone who even knew what a kettlebell was. I remember for years explaining it over and over to my friends, new clients, other personal trainers, and family members. I have to admit I had a real hard time keeping a straight face. Unfortunately, like any fitness tool that becomes popular it tends to get very watered down. Fly by night kettlebell certifications are constantly popping up as well as new kettlebell brands, shapes, and sizes. Poorly designed, cheap kettlebells that come with a tutorial DVD equally as bad can be found all over major stores now.

Today we all have some ways of staying in shape or getting to the physical form we wish to be. There is a natural connection between a man and work-out timeouts, something like a restart button. Kettlebell training is a fast-growing fitness exercise which demands from you the complete involvement of your body. When done correctly the benefits are easily recognizable, in the first place defined shoulders, equally developed forearms, and distinctive triceps and that is just the visually most attractive and noticeable part of the Kettlebell training program.
