June Book Review (Mix and Match Mama) | Read It | Book review, Books, Books to read

I just love, love, love when we sit down and review books together!!! And I especially love it in the fall and winter because, hello?! So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and read. I read So Close To Amazing in two sittings. And loved it.

I was recently introduced to her blog, Mix and Match Mama and I can totally confirm that on that day I got absolutely nothing accomplished because got lost in it for hours. Yes hours, its that good! She is absolutely amazing and super inspiring. I am a mom to four kiddos and have been married to my very favorite person ever for 15 years. I started blogging almost 12 years ago and from that, have spun off 6 cookbooks and launched my own travel agency 7 years ago. Between kids, writing recipes and planning travel, I keep myself busy every day.

Gosh, I need to get my hands on a copy of An Anonymous Girl! Sounds like just my type of book. I thought it was very repetitive. I had to force myself to finish it. I will say some chapters had great tips and I even wrote a few down but only chapters did it for me. She is such a Godly, amazing woman. It tells her life story and intertwines scripture as well.

But for all of you readers? So many of the books in my lineup today came from your comments. Now, I read some fantastic books this month, but I also read two that fell short for me. Sound like a plan? This novel is about four women who share a summer house together. All four are escaping some realities of life marriage problems, job problems, etc. I found this book charming.

Shull, Shay. In a convenient size with thicker covers, glossy pages, and an attached elastic bookmark, this cookbook is arranged by seasons and makes getting dinner on the table a breeze. Organized by days of the week, with enough weeks to cover a month of meals, the included pantry essentials section and detailed yet manageable shopping lists saves tons of time. Filled with simple, delicious, creative, doable, and family friendly recipes, the corresponding photographs of each recipe takes this book over the top. With meals that are sure to please many different palates, the ingredients are also easy to switch if necessary.

The very second I came up with the Closet Confessions series back in January, I called Shay to see when she would be ready to show off her new closet although at the time she was months away from even moving in! Like stuff is on the walls, candles are burning, and a bundt cake is in the oven within 48 hours. Shay is an incredible friend and such an amazing cheerleader. I hope you all have good friend cheerleaders in your lives too! In fact, Shay is the one that initially encouraged me to start this blog. As you can see above, we always have such a great time hanging out.

  1. The pressure of planning and preparing meals from one day to the next can become stressful.

  2. I love that you try a lot of different genres — I need to stop sticking to just thriller books!
